Just in case you didn’t know, part of all California State Lottery revenue goes to local education, so feel good about playing and you’ll feel even better when you win!

Here is what the California lottery reports:

For every dollar spent, $0.34 goes to public education ranging from kindergarten to local colleges. The rest of the money pays for operating expenses, commissions and prizes.

Since the lottery began in 1984, more than $20 billion has gone to education. While that sound like a hefty number, the 2009 contribution of $1 billion amounted to just 1.5 percent of the overall education budget.

So no more excuses for not signing up with 🙂
